Satomi Kai Aikido - Suffolk

Aylsbury Aikido Seminar

On Sunday 13th January, students from the Satomi Kai aikido club in Stowmarket and Needham Market visited a seminar in Aylesbury given by sixth-degree black belt instructor Vincent Sumpter and guest instructor fifth degree black belt Steve Lindsey for Newport Ninkukai aikido club.

Vincent Sumpter started aikido in Japan back in 1974 and teaches internationally as well as being the Chairman of the British Aikido Board. Steve Lindsey also started aikido in 1974, and says of his teaching, “I enjoy the Art immensely and take great pleasure in watching others falling over”!

The day was well-attended from all corners of the UK and all styles of aikido and was characterised by a sea of smiling faces and positive energy. Strangers quickly became friends, and the level of teaching from the seasoned teachers was top-quality, fresh and a real inspiration, with something new and unexpected for everyone to try and enjoy.

Young and old, ladies and men, everyone who attended left feeling enriched and with a new sense of community and friendship through shared practise and development in our non-aggressive traditional Japanese martial art which is ideal for general fitness and vitality, personal development and self-defence for all ages.
